On behalf of the Hungarian Light Industry Association dr. Ferenc Schmél - mechanical engineer, system organizer, candidate of technical sciences – and designer Zita Attalai ( from our company ) participatedat the Steering Committee Meeting of the Green Deal Leather (GDL) EU project led by COTANCE Secretary General Mr. Gustavo Gonzales-Quijano on 20th April 2023 in Valencia.
The meeting was followed by two factory visits. First, Industrias Peleteras SA INPELSA – a tannery specializing in the processing of primarily lamb and sheep skins – was founded in 1973. The plant was presented by Manuel Ríos Navarro – the owner and production director of the factory. Their products are high-quality furs and nappa leathers which are mainly used to make gloves and leather clothing for luxury brands. The main characteristic of the factory is the high rate of solar energy use, the refrigerated rawhide warehouses with a large inventory and its own wastewater treatment plant.

Afterwards the team visited Industrias Del Cuarzo S.A. INCUSA factory. The owner and director Silvino Navarro presented the 75-year-old cow hide production plant. The waste is processed in a gelatin processing plant operating within the factory, the product of which is used as sausage skin. Reverse osmosis technology is used at the factory’s wastewater treatment plant which produces drinking water quality. The factory has LWG (Leather Working Group) certification, in addition to traditional chrome tanning titanium is also used.
